Natural & Manufactured Sands
Sand, in the terminology of aggregates is a “fine aggregate”. Within this fine aggregate scale there are 2 classifications, Natural Sand & Manufactured Sand.
Natural sand, as indicated by its name, is a naturally occurring material and is the result of disintegration and abrasion of rock over a period of time. Natural Sand consists of round, smooth particles that contribute to workability making them ideal for use in mortars and concrete products.
Manufactured sand consists of the finer particles of rock that are produced in the processes of rock and gravel crushing. Manufactured sand consists of sharp, angular particles which yield greater structural strength due to their interlocking properties and make them ideal for Asphalt & high strength concrete applications.
